Tuesdays at Winterfest!

Arvest Winterfest presented with the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation returns to Downtown Tulsa from November 25, 2011-January 2, 2012. Every Tuesday from 4:00-10:00 p.m. you can ice skate for $4.00 when you bring a gently used book. All book donations benefit Volunteers of America of Oklahoma.

Celebrate Direct Support Professionals!

Direct Support Professionals enable people with developmental disabilities to live in their own communities by assisting them with their daily affairs and intimate needs: medications, meals, dressing, mobility, vocational training, respite care and other in-home services.

Keep Cash Flowing

Back in 1997, Volunteers of America put together a task force to study the idea of a "payee" program that could take over personal finances for people with various types of disabilities.

  • Payee Services Expands to Muskogee
Jo Ann Huff says one of her clients is “a lot happier” since enrolling in the Volunteer Services of America Payee Services Program. The program, new to Muskogee this year, was made available through a $30,000 grant by the City of Muskogee Foundation.
  • Smart Living
After Jessica Sanford became homeless and separated from her family, social workers began helping her achieve mental health wellness, including gaining approval for Social Security Disability Income. That steady income was too much for Sanford to handle so she joined the Payee Services program offered by Volunteers of America.
  • Spread The Warmth, A Tulsa's Channel 8 Blanket Drive
Thank you to all of our community partners! The Spread the Warmth with Tulsa's Channel 8 blanket drive was a great success! During the month of January, Tulsans dropped off over 4000 new or gently used blankets, quilts or comforters to any LaMode Cleaners location. LaMode Cleaners cleaned all of the blankets and Volunteers of America of Oklahoma distributed them to people in need.
