Nursing home administrators estimate that more than 65% of their residents have no regular visitors. Residents are often lonely and thrive on interactions with new people. Companionship not only boosts the mood but is actually therapeutic. As a volunteer, you'll find many residents simply want to talk about their families and lives and are so thankful to have someone to share with. Regular training sessions are provided. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers as it matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to serve their communities. RSVP provides service opportunities for those who want to make a difference in their communities while maintaining the flexibility to decide with whom and how frequently they serve.
