Helping America’s most vulnerable®

2016 Spread the Warmth blanket drive

Volunteers of America Oklahoma helping to spread the warmth

Tulsa, Okla. (January 4, 2016) – As winter draws closer temperatures will soon be dipping below freezing during the evenings, which will leave some people struggling to keep warm. KTUL News Channel 8, Volunteers of America Oklahoma and UniFirst and Two Men and a Truck have partnered to promote the 2016 "Spread the Warmth Blanket Drive."

Emergency shelters in the Tulsa area are reporting record numbers of individuals staying overnight. You can make a difference by donating a new or gently-used blanket from January 2 – 31, 2016. All blankets will go to individuals served by Volunteers of America Oklahoma® and our community partners. If you are interested in becoming a distribution partner, please contact Amber Neville, Development Coordinator for Volunteers of America Oklahoma (918) 307-3016.

Current blanket drive distribution partners include Emergency Infant Services, Family and Children's Services, Youth Services of Tulsa, Hard Core Ministries, Manna House, Night Light Tulsa, Tulsa County Emergency Shelter, Gospel Rescue Mission, Just the Beginning, New Hope, and Iron Gate.

Volunteers of America Oklahoma® reaches out to over 2,000 individuals every month providing affordable senior housing, residential support for individuals with intellectual disabilities and assisting individuals at risk of homelessness and serves veterans. Volunteers of America Oklahoma® is a not-for-profit organization that depends on volunteers and your generosity to continue the mission to help America's most vulnerable.
