Helping Our Homeless Neighbors Survive
As old man winter arrives, most of us turn on the heat; thankful for the warmth. For our neighbors experiencing homelessness, survival is a struggle in the cold. The Tulsa Homeless Outreach Team makes regular visits to camps along the Arkansas River. Checking on men and women providing care bags seems like such a small effort when the need is so great.
People living under bridges and in tarp shelters need permanent housing solutions, help gaining employment, and help achieving independence through budgeting and money management skills. At Volunteers of America, the care bag is simply a way to open the door to a conversation with people. Our well-trained staff members listen and provide resources and referrals to overcome the challenges that so many face.
Please join us in making an impact this winter. Your contribution makes a difference in helping people find a warm home as they restore their lives.
